The Loa Loa's Cardiovascular System
Commonly referred to as the "Eye Worm", the Loa Loa is a rare parasite that lives under the skin of host animals. A very rare feature about this worm's behavior is that it tends to target the eyeball, and crawl underneath the sclera where it is visible from the outside. The Loa Loa leaves swelling along the top of the hosts skin on the path that it is travelling underneath the skin. Like all Nematodes, the Loa Loa absorbs nutrients from liquids underneath the skin and eye. These worms can be harmful, but are rare in the world, as cases of it are only found in Africa and India.
