Sea cucumbers possess both a water vascular system and a haemal system. The water vascular system of the provides hydraulic pressure to the tentacles and tube feet of the sponge, which allow it to move. The haemal system contains hundreds of small muscles called ampullae. They act as miniature hearts that keep blood flowing through the cucumber, where it mixes with the water from the water vascular system.
